Alpine chalet Les Leysalets

Description

Located in the Pierreuse nature reserve, our farmers spend the summer season in the Les Leysalets alpine chalet making the precious L'Etivaz AOP cheese. During your hike, make a stop to discover the secrets of cheese making.

At an altitude of 1331m, the alpine chalet Les Leysalets joins the list of the many places where the alpine cheese L'Etivaz AOP is made during the summer. Every year in June, Alexandre Henchoz, the owner of the chalet, takes his herd of about thirty cows up to spend the summer months on the mountain pastures. Around the chalet, discover the Simmental cows enjoying the fresh grass. You can recognize them by their white colour and light brown spots. The farmers will be happy to welcome you to their mountain pasture. Visits are possible, but wheelchair access is not possible. It is imperative to contact the producer before a visit.
