Description

Accessible by cable car, this walk is a chance to meet the marmots of La Videmanette through fields of flowers and mountains!

La Videmanette is known for its stunning local wildlife! From ibex and marmots to eagles and even cows, this hike offers you the chance to discover our animal friends! Your starting point is the lower station of Rougemont - La Videmanette cable cars! With your hiking boots laced up, sunglasses on, and water bottle filled, take a seat in the panoramic cabins of La Videmanette. The ascent, lasting 8-10 minutes, takes you to an altitude of over 2,200m! Your observation begins from the cabin... On your left is the famous mountain "Le Rübli"! In its rocky landscape, many chamois play and leap from rock to rock. Some climbers can also be seen at the start of route 3 of the Via ferrata! Once you arrive at the restaurant terrace, your path leads you towards La Videman pass. A true natural paradise with views of the Gummfluh and the Pierreuse nature reserve! If needed, equip yourself with poles to descend towards "Les Praz." Accompanied by the tinkling of cowbells, follow the footpath between the alpine chalets to reach the Ruble alp. Here begins the sporty climb to the place known as "Les Gouilles." No need to worry, the effort is well worth it! After passing the two small lakes called "Les Gouilles," keep your eyes peeled... The marmots will signal your arrival to their companions with a short whistle! Try to spot them as they scurry from one burrow to another. You have two options to finish your route: take the small red cabin of the "Va-et-vient" or complete the climb in the scree with the strength of your legs! Both options will bring you back to your starting point, the panoramic terrace of La Videmanette restaurant.
