Irene Karpiczenko's cut-outs deal with tradition in the present and can, in a rather unconventional way, help to improve society's perception of it.
Contrary to widespread expectations, her style of cutting is neither very fine nor black and white. What's more, Ms Karpiczenko uses a wide variety of techniques and materials, and always carries around a pencil for drawing and a sketchbook.

Werner Gunterswiler, the cut-out artist, moves between paper cut-outs and ceramics, and loves the diversity of possible creations and themes.
He describes himself as follows: ‘Today, as a paper cutter, I can cut out insects or animal portraits, tomorrow, political themes, and the day after tomorrow, cut-outs will appear with the stages of human life in the background’. What's more, he often tries to link paper cut-outs and ceramics, and deals with the same themes in both paper and ceramics.
