The art of paper cutting is rooted in the traditions of the Pays-d'Enhaut. Among the precursors, Jean-Jacques Hauswirth and Louis Saugy were natives of the region. Since then, the art of decoupage has been perpetuated by young artists, who have developed it by not only decoupaging alpine scenes, but also more exotic landscapes, animals or objects.
