1660 Château-d'Œx
The Château-d'Oex railway station serviced by the Montreux-Bernese Oberland (MOB) railway line was built at the same time as the train tracks in 1904. The wooden railway station building remains in its current architectural style of “Swiss chalet”. Through an urban eye, it appropriates the characteristics of an older alpine dwelling.
The station building is the evidence of the Belle Epoque and the beginning of the tourism in Pays-d'Enhaut. The other infrastructures were completely renovated in 2015, making the Château-d'Oex train station the most modern of the MOB line. The reason for the works is the arrival in 2022 of the GoldenPass Express - the first train capable of connecting Montreux to Interlaken in a single journey.
The Château-d'Oex town hall took advantage of the renovations to order a magnificent contemporary fresco to the painter-performer Franck Bouroullec and the graphic designer Cédric Gachet. Covering the walls of the underpass, it shows the faces and emblems of the region.
