Clock tower

Constructed probably at the end of the 18th century, the tower of Rossinière was not always furnished with a clock. The dial, which is now visible and which gives its name to the clock tower, was formerly above the staircase of the Hôtel de Ville. According to travelers of the time, the mechanism was so noisy "similar to the sound of a steam engine", that the clock was moved up the tower.

Transformed at the end of the 19th century, classified as an historic monument in 1961 and restored from 1977-1979, the tower served as a prison and archive room. It is unfortunately not open to visitors.

Now, during the summer, it hosts works of art created as part of various temporary exhibitions, including the Kingdom of Cats.
