Overview
The idyllic village of Château-d'Œx has been the venue of the International Hot-Air Balloon Festival for over 40 years and is thus considered the Swiss Capital of Hot-Air Balloons. Thanks to the region's favourable climate, you can take off all year round on one of these adventurous and romantic journeys.
Flights are organised throughout the year by Ballons Château-d'Œx. Whether in summer or winter, the experience changes completely thanks to the natural setting. n winter, the snow brings a very magical atmosphere. In summer, you can discover the full relief of the landscape.
The meeting point is given at the beginning of the morning on the take-off field. On request, evening flights are also available to enjoy the sunset from your basket.
Live a magical experience as soon as the hot-air balloon slowly takes off into the air, rising up to over 2000 metres into the sky and transforming your perspectives as well as your view of the world. Whether young or old, with family or friends, in couple or a group, a hot-air balloon ride is an inspiring experience for everyone.
After just a few minutes, enjoy a 360-degree view of the Saane valley and the Alpine panorama from Mont Blanc to the Eiger, then past the Grand-Combin, Matterhorn, the Jura, over the Lake Geneva region and Fribourg opens before your eyes.
A celebration will follow the landing and the folding of the balloon, where participants receive a certificate and can toast the journey with an offered drink.
Practical information
DURATION OF THE ACTIVITY
- The flight lasts one hour
- The activity lasts for three to four hours
CONDITIONS
- The ride will only take place in good weather.
- Children must be accompanied and must be at least 1.25 m tall to be able to look over the basket.
- Pregnant women are kindly asked to avoid the ride.
- A medical certificate is required for passengers aged 80 and over.
RECOMMENDATIONS
- We recommend bringing sporty, season-appropriate clothing as well as waterproof shoes and a head covering with you.
RESERVATIONS
- The exact coordinates for your journey, starting point and time, will be provided by the organiser the day before the trip.
- You can cancel your reservations no later than 48 hours before the scheduled departure time. After this deadline, cancellations are no longer possible.

GETTING THERE
- The meeting point is a 5-minute walk from Château-d'Œx railway station.
- Free parking near the launch site.
