1660 Château-d'Œx
The Pierreuse natural reserve is located on the left bank of the Sarine south of Château-d'Œx, around the Gummfluh massif. It also includes the high region of L'Etivaz, north of the Pic Chaussy. A characteristic landscape of the Pre-Alps, it includes, over 34 km2, several valleys dominated by high limestone walls and is an emblematic place of the Gruyère Pays-d'Enhaut Regional Nature Park.
Its landscape combines wild nature and traditional mountain pastures, where the famous Etivaz PDO cheese is made. The wildlife abounds in rare species: ibex, chamois, marmot, golden eagle, lynx or black grouse.
Several itineraries are possible to discover the reserve. A one-day hike offering magnificent panoramic views starts from the upper station of the Videmanette (Rougemont cable car), goes around the Pierreuse mountain pasture and crosses four passes to arrive at l'Etivaz.
