The soil is very rocky and shallow, with a high gypsum content.
Within this domain, there are five production vineyards, located in Antagnes, La Roche, Sus-Village, Verschiez and St-Triphon.
Verschiez, in the west of the appellation, has Mediterranean characteristics that are clearly visible to hikers along the wine trail.
On the other side of the appellation, the Antagnes hillside is made up of soft saline rock, more precisely, 230 million year old limestone, unique in the canton. This rock is streaked with bands of gypsum resulting from the evaporation of prehistoric lagoons.
Gypsum is one of the typical characteristics of the vineyards of Ollon, which include La Roche and Sus-Village. It is also found in Ollon itself, the central part of the vineyard.
Finally, to the south, the hill of St-Triphon is a block of hard limestone, detached from the mountain.
