Jean-Pierre Ramel - cutting art

His passion for nature, as well as his innate sense of the world of wild and domestic animals, has inspired him to make animal compositions. His works, which also include the traditional ascents to the mountain pastures, are executed using the cutter cutting technique, which allows for great finesse giving an astonishing vivacity to his scenes.

There is also a great deal of rigour and precision. The artist insists on respecting the morphology and attitudes of the animals. He wants us to differentiate not only whether it is this or that animal, but also whether it is a young or old subject or a male or female.

However, although a great deal of dexterity, without the right to make mistakes, is required for the work of decoupage itself, it is only the technical side of the work that is in fact the basis of the painting, it is the drawing that makes up the composition. It's a bit like music, you have to write it down and compose it before playing it!
