Set back from the cantonal boundary, the peaks of the Haute Combe and the Rodomonts are the final eastern outbursts of Vaud. The summit of this angle is marked by the dent de Ruth, which dominates the cantons of Bern and Fribourg.
These small reliefs are gentle, contrasting with the elegance of the Ruth tooth and the Gastlosen. The low altitude makes it possible to reach the Haute Combe and the Rodomonts quickly from the village of Rougemont.
Crossing them makes for a good day out, especially as there are many options available. A small race will become a big one, as long as the imagination takes over!
To go up to the Haute Combe, follow the road west and then take the path to the chalets de la Forcla. Go back down and cross the torrent de la Manche.
The traverse to the Rodomonts is done by descending the south ridge, then south-east on the Forcla. Go up under Rodomont Derrière, go around this summit to the right, join the long ridge of the Rodomonts and follow it to the summit 1879m.
To go down, do it through a series of long south-west facing ridges, directly on Rougemont. At the bottom, go out to the left into the forest and join the road back to the village.
