Overview
Three descents to the Col des Mosses from the Pic Chaussy at an altitude of 2'351m!
Once the domain of off-piste skiing, the summit has regained the charms of solitude. The slopes of the peak, however, have not changed.
The 360° panorama of the Pic Chaussy offers an amazing view, so put on your skis and climb to the top!
A great combination of climbing from the north, descending from the south to the "La Première" chalets and then retracing your steps to the summit. Then descend the N combe or the superb W combe to the start of the Voëttes road.
Practical information
RECOMMENDATIONS
- duration: 4 hours for each route
- difference in altitude: 900m
- accessible between January and April (subject to weather conditions)
DIFFICULTY
- descent S PD, S3 sustained at the top, risk of couloirs from mid-day.
- descent W AD, S4 sustained at the beginning, then S3; risk of avalanches. Descent N PD, S2
- slope : The W descent is the steepest: 37° average over 400m
- note: the middle part of the W descent is covered with varnish
- consult the avalanche zones before going up the mountain.

- access by postal bus from Château-d'Œx to the Col des Mosses (stop "Col des Mosses")
