Overview
The Barraud hut lies at 1956 metres near the Pas de Cheville and the Col des Essets. Located on the route of many hikes and famous trails like the Muverans, Diablerets and Argentine Trails.
The hut is open all year round, but is not staffed. It is therefore essential to reserve in advance in order to obtain a key.
The hut sleeps 43 in dormitories and is also equipped with inside toilets and washing facilities, heating and cooking are by wood fire. Lighting is powered by solar panel. You have to prepare your own food and refreshments.
The cabin is reached from Solalex or Derborence by crossing the wide pastures of Anzeinde. The cabin is named after Mr and Mrs William Barraud who made a donation to the Swiss Alpine Club Diablerets section, to enable construction of the hut in memory of their son killed in a mountain accident in 1932. It was opened in 1934 and renovated in 1986.
