Marianne Dubuis
Route de la Ray 34
1660 Château-d'Œx
Marianne Dubuis grew up on the coast, not far from Lake Geneva. But her attraction lies in the mountains where she spent her holidays and weekends, a passion that is reflected in her work.
Since her childhood, she has drawn meticulously, in the manner of a cut-out, and cutting became a logical consequence. She gave her very first cut-out to her sister at the age of 13. In 1979, she became an "official" cutter. Self-taught, she creates her own "style" of cutting without it being fixed: she likes to challenge herself in her creativity.
Marianne likes to tell her world in images, cut in one piece in black on a white background, or in coloured papers, cut and assembled into characters and stories, on a black cut-out "framework". Whatever the technique: the paintings express what she feels; the desire to share her love of the mountains, the need for a "human" agriculture close to the rich nature of the region, the traditions and values of the people of Pays-d'Enhaut.
Landscapes, moments of life, or more interior emotions, it is a wink or a piece of the heart, a thought or a dream that she likes to create in this complete form of expression that is the cut-out. And, if the viewer is touched or inspired, what a reward for this craftswoman!
