Heritage Panels in Bex

Description

Discovering our past, our pride, step by step

This tourist activity gives you the chance to delve into the fascinating history of thermal baths in Bex-les-Bains. The discovery tour includes a series of ten or so panels dotted around the main thoroughfare of this delightful Bellerine town. Each of these panels is carefully designed to recall the flourishing period of spa tourism in the region. You'll be immersed in the past, and reminded of the importance of this practice in the history of Bex-les-Bains. They are fixed to candelabras at the very spot where the subject is evoked, so that the Past and Present are superimposed like an augmented reality. The succession of moments as experienced by our ancestors begins with the Hôtel des Alpes - now the Hôtel du Cèdre - and continues with the Grand Hôtel des Bains, the Logis de l'Ours - Hôtel de l'Union, the Temple, the Hôtel de Ville, the Logis du Monde, the Place du Marché, the Post Office, the Café Suisse and ends temporarily on the Quai de l'Avançon - flooded in 1910. In the middle of the route is the L.A.BELdesARTS (Les Amis Bellerins des Arts) association space at Rue Centrale 10, which presents a variety of exhibitions and events throughout the year.
