The Cosmic Garden

Description

In Fenalet, a small hamlet between Bex and Gryon in the Vaud Alps, you’ll come across a surprising workshop that creates holokinetic works from light, colour and movement. The Chablais artist K-soul opened his “Jardin Cosmique” workshop in 2011.

Located in an imaginatively converted former carpenter’s workshop, the space consists of a gallery and laboratory where K-soul creates his holokinetic artworks, which have been exhibited in New York, London, Vienna, Berlin and Miami. Holokinetic painting combines classic techniques with modern technological tools and is done completely by hand. An electronic brush is used to paint directly with light, and a computer interface records and superimposes the movements of the brush and integrates the movement into the picture. Producing results imagined and dreamed of by Kandinsky, Paul Klee or Malevitch, 21st century painting becomes alive, luminous and dynamic. K-soul is the only artist in the world to master this technique. Plus, he developed it himself after fifteen years of research. All the works are the result of a multitude of observations of movements of light in nature, a perception built on by K-soul through his activity as a high mountain guide. The artist is supported by a “multi-talented” team including micro-technicians, IT experts, craftsmen, jewellery-makers and engineers. Since the necessary production tools are non-existent, they have been invented and made by the artist and his team, mainly in Fenalet and the surrounding area. Visits by appointment only.
