Description

This hike from Bretaye takes you along the ridges between the Grand Chamossaire (the highest peak in Villars at 2112 m) and the Petit Chamossaire. The views are numerous and worth the diversions.

From Bretaye (or Roc d'Orsay), you climb towards the summit of Grand Chamossaire, at 2112m. The climb is steep but fairly short. On arrival, a clear view of the whole of the Vaud Alps and as far as Lake Geneva awaits you! Then take the path on the ridge which leads you to the neighbouring summit of Petit Chamossaire at an altitude of 2010m. You descend to the foot of the chairlift of the same name and reach the Lac Noir. You then return to Bretaye. You can also do the tour in the other direction.

ACCESS - To Bretaye by train from Villars-Bretaye - To Roc d'Orsay via the Roc d'Orsay cable car from Villars. PARKING IN VILLARS - Centenaire car park, opposite the station (paying) - Rochegrise car park, 200m from the train stop of the same name, free, limited to 10 hours. - Roc d'Orsay car park, at the foot of the cable car, free of charge A FEW POINTERS - Stay on the marked paths - Make sure you know your route and the weather conditions - Respect flora and fauna - Take your rubbish home with you - Respect private property - Close all gates behind you - Keep dogs on leads
