Fort Chillon

Fort de Chillon, a listed site of national importance, is the first cultural leisure activity in Switzerland to combine a visit to a military fort with the discovery of what was for a long time Switzerland's best-kept secret: the national retreat. Its aim is to bring to life the daily lives of the thousands of soldiers who have served there since it was built in 1941, using cutting-edge technology that combines furniture, original objects and innovative virtual and augmented reality tools.

With family or friends, discover this new kind of museum, invisible from the outside and hidden in the rock opposite Chillon Castle, which offers an offbeat approach with a touch of humour to what was, until 2001, an impenetrable site classified as a defence secret.

You should allow between 1h30 and 2 hours for the visit, which is free and unguided. Information is provided in 11 languages along the signposted route. Dry air and an ideal temperature of 19° all year round. In summer, bring something to keep warm.
