Setting out on foot from Château-d’Œx, descend towards the River Sarine and you’ll come to the famous Turrian Bridge. Built in 1883, the iron-built structure is one of the oldest and last remaining suspension bridges in Romandy (the western, French-speaking part of Switzerland).
Starting from the village square, following the Balloon Path will lead you straight to it. Once there, chance the crossing just as our ancestors did. Take a moment to savour the giddy prospects of the river below.
On the far side, turn left and walk through the forest following the lovely path along the riverbank. You’ll pass the magnificent Ramaclé waterfall before reaching the spectacular Gérignoz Gorge.
