Built in 1908 by Henri Dufour, an executive of the Société des Forces Motrices de l'Avançon, whose offices are currently located on the other side of the road, this villa is very representative of the Heimatstil architecture, also known as "sapin", which seeks to integrate components of traditional, even alpine, architecture into more modern constructions.
Here, the multi-sloped roof is reminiscent, in a much more complex form, of that found on chalets. Other more typical buildings can be seen opposite the former English chapel, near the Parc de la Grande Salle.
