Domaine de l'Ovaille

It was on 4 March 1584 that a gigantic landslide, caused by an earthquake, started from the rocky cirque of Plan-Falcon above Corbeyrier and reached the Rhône plain after burying the village of Yvorne.

The Premier Grand Cru of Domaine de l'Ovaille grew out of this scree that gave the new hillside a foundation of brown limestone and marl, a gravelly soil dominated by flint.
