And what makes this district so special is not only the presence of one of the last farms in the commune with its many sheep, but also the sinkhole which is located just behind the fountain.
This geological phenomenon, due to the dissolution of gypsum, caused the ground to collapse and created a circular depression almost a hundred metres in diameter. This vegetated depression opens up the horizon of the district and allows one to admire, a little further on, the magnificent trees of the two large properties of the Maîtres which are a little higher up.
It is not surprising, therefore, that in such a favourable setting, the fountain has become a real attraction, also taking on an eminent social role. Nice neighbourhood parties are organised there, with vegetable soup prepared by all the inhabitants, even small open-air cinema sessions have taken place; the children of the neighbourhood, who have grown up together, sometimes even experience their first love affairs around the pool.
Of course, the fountain still has some minor problems. The top of the goat was recently razed to the ground and the municipality repaired everything. In the past too, when the present fountain, dating from 1927, was not yet installed, the neighbours complained about run-off on the properties, but today, calm seems to reign completely in this well preserved corner of Bex.
It is at this fork in the road that one chooses to continue the walk on the "countryside route" or to continue on the "city route".
