This conifer stood in the park in front of the Hôtel Victoria, built around 1860. Today, the area is known as Place Victoria, despite the fact that only the pine remains. The cone (also known as a pive or pine cone), the fruit of this tree, contains seeds with wings hidden under each scale, which are released in dry weather. As the tree ages, deep blackish cracks may appear on the trunk.
