It is the blackish colour of its ageing bark that gives it this name. There are over 80 species of pine on Earth, all found in the northern hemisphere. Firs and pines are distinguished by their needles. In firs, the needles are arranged one by one. In pines, they are grouped in clusters of 2, 3 or 5 needles. Red Pines, for example, also have needles in clusters of 2, while White Pines have needles in clusters of 5.
Hotel Beau-Site:
In 1860, the train arrived in Aigle-les-Bains, where people came to take the waters of Fontanney, heated at the Grand Hôtel in Le Fahy. With the influx of travellers, the Hôtel Beau-Site was built next to the station in 1862 and, as was the custom at the time, was embellished with a large park planted with trees.
