Mayen Lake
Overview
Lake Mayen sits serenely between Leysin’s two trademark peaks, Aï and Mayen. In a truly alpine arena, it is a favourite haunt of marmots and chamois. Join friends and family for a get together in the pure mountain air before returning downhill on a mountain bike, setting out on a hike or a refreshment break at the refuge.
Above Leysin, located between the Tour d'Aï and the Tour de Mayen, the lake is nestled in a mountainous setting. Accessible on foot or by mountain bike in the summer, it is an ideal place to go for a walk or simply to relax before climbing the Tour d'Aï.
The slopes around the lake are like natural terraces. If you keep a low profile, you can watch marmots and chamois playing around the lake and on the mountainsides.
There are plenty of places to picnic in the area. For a bite to eat, the Mayen refreshment bar is just a stone's throw from the lake.
